I have been kicking around the idea of a flail mower for some time now. My thoughts have kept returning to the Ferri ZME155. Has anyone here got one and give me there likes and dislikes about the unit?
I am going to run it on my AC ttr4400 35hp at the pto for mowing down brambles and scotch broom mainly. I was also wondering if the unit would handle hammer knives?

That's the first reference to a Ferri flail mower I've seen on TBN. No experience that I know of. Is it Italian made? Italy seems to have a number of flail mower companies all of which produce nice products at moderate cost. The US made flails are typically heavier duty and much more expensive. The only other source I am aware of is China which produces cheap versions of unknown quality.

Flail mower is another attachment that is on my list of used attachments to look out for in my travels. I could not justify buying a new one but sooner or later I will find one.;)

these flail mowers are italian made. they can be offset by six feet and tilt down 45 degrees and up 90. looks to be a very vesitile machine.

Looks nice if you need a slope mower. I'm sure that tilting capability increases the cost quite a bit over a regular flail though. Compare to the Caroni TM1900 for example which can be had delivered for about $2000 from AgriSupply (at least on the east coast).

I got a quote for $6300 on the unit but I know of a used one for $4500. I think the factor of not having to drive over the stuff that I would be cutting and also the factor that nothing here is flat, your either on the water or a hill. My tractor is an Antonio carrero so It already has great slope abilities and this would be giving it that much extra.

Did you get one?

I just bought a nice used one for $2700 (+ 25% VAT). So far just made a test run but seems to work fine.

How do you like the mower so far? How is the build quality? I'm thinking about getting a MT200 flail mower for mowing cover crops on my farm.
