Hey Guys,

Been busy up here moving snow, I wanted to try a different approach and use the loader to move snow into the slough that runs through my place.

I started with the standard bucket that came on the DX60 and after several days of working a few hours I saw that I needed more capacity than the 6' that came on the loader.

Our local store up here has a sale the 1st day of the year 15% off anything, we'll we went by there on the day before this year and they were running the sale for two days. I went to the farm desk and asked if he had a 7' snow bucket, they sold the last one that morning but he said he had a good skid steer bucket that would do a good job moving snow and it was built for hard work moving dirt and gravel.

They got out their Bobcat and picked it up and showed me the bottom of it and the features, he said it weighted a little over 600 lbs. We'll we told him to hold it and we went home to get the pickup and threw a pallet in the back. Got it home and went to pick it up with the T2220, well I could lift it a little but the rear wheels started to spin a little and I had to lock in the 4 wheel drive. With the pallet forks and the bucket I figure we were close to 1000 lbs.

This one can have a snow extension added to the rear with two bolts and it's ready for a cutting edge but it has a heck of a cutting edge already on it. It also has a heck of a plate mounted to the bottom of the bucket.

The bucket was made by Berlon, it's their B-84 Low profile bucket, I can heap it up a lot better and carry a lot more snow I could with the standard bucket.

Here is a couple shots, I'll try and add a couple without all the snow on it later, it will get a workout again Monday or Tuesday. I've managed to clean out the whole yard area that had 3' + snow mounds in it. I usually don't do this clean out until spring but with this tractor and having a loader I like hauling out the snow instead of blowing it around.

If you guys need a good heavy duty bucket this one is great, it's doing everything I wanted, I finished up cleaning this area out in one day with the bigger bucket. Without it I would have worked a couple more days.

Yup, bigger bucket is the way to go for snow removal, that's what I did, went from 60" HD to 72 high volume light materials bucket.

That 84" low profile sounds like a very nice bucket, but maybe not the best fit for snow removal, I'm sure it's better since your clearing a wider swath, but you gave up on the volume compared to a standard 84 bucket due to the low profile design and a light materials bucket in that width would have a great deal more volume capacity.

At 600 pounds it must be super HD and well made, but more for construction work not bulky materials handling IMO.

If your happy with it, that's all that really matters though :)

Here's a pic of the dif between my 2 buckets.

That snow sure looks familiar. It was just a little over three weeks ago that we had temperatures in the low teens and plenty of snow. However, this week I've been working outside in a t-shirt.

That is certainly a beefy bucket you have Thumper. You said it is larger, but what is its capacity compared to your regular bucket? Is it as much as double? One thing for sure is that you'll never tear it up. That dimple plate on the bottom makes it very rugged.

Hey Guys,

It's about 6 cuf bigger but it has more length from the back to the front lip so snow is stacked higher, I can also add a snow lip that goes on the sides and back for even more capacity.

We wanted a bucket that would move snow but also do work year round that I could not mess it up so easily:D.

I worked three days about 9 hrs moving the snow between the house and the Morton building, I maybe got 1/2 the way to the small tree line to the left, I finished up all the way to the tree line in about 2 1/2 hours with this bucket. I could really heap up the snow which helped a lot.

Here is a shot of the other bucket, as you see it is really not that big a bucket. It would not heap that much it is really narrow from the back to the front lip.

With the longer depth on that bottom of the bucket, your gonna see how sweet it will be for leveling ground :) That's what it's geared to, to be able to finish grade large areas easily. Probably why the bottom is so reinforced like that, it's meant to be used like a plane.
Also a nice option to be able to raise the sides and back.

Looks like it does what you need. Being a skid load bucket its also construction rated and I'm sure probably built heavier than what you need. On the other hand, you will be hard pressed to bend it, and it should last forever.
