I wanted to get opinions on a GX720 backhoe. How are they to operate, how reliable, lay-out, build quality etc., Like or dislikes etc.,

Well I just bought the GX 720 Backhoe with the PTO package for my 1993 JD 1070 and I gotta say its gotta be the most frustrating piece of equipment that I own. Upon arrival at my farm, I found the hydraulics to be incredibly gutless and incredibly slow. I complained to the dealer who then replied that my particular unit was shipped with a defective pump. several weeks later they replaced the pump, the power increased a bit, but Its still extremely slow, especially when trying to perform more than 2 moves simultaneously. My particular unit is a 3 point hitch mount, but the catch is that the implement first has to be powered up by the PTO to elevate it off the ground, then the tractor has to be absolutely perfectly aligned with the implement in order to couple. this is accomplished by manipulating the boom, dipper stick, and out riggers. I personally received a very serious injury to my finger when trying to attempt this manoeuvre. Two people are required to hook this impliment up SAFELY! I ran the implement approximately 3 hrs, and the high pressure hydraulic line to the out rigger failed causing the machine to drop suddenly, thank goodness this didn't occur whilst I was hooking it up or I could've have broken a lot more than my finger. So far the dealership and manufacturer have told me "to bad....you own it. When I informed the manufacturer of this implement (EBM mfg) of my safety concerns, and possible legal action, he found it quite comical because he started laughing. Nice eh!
