Got no responses in the JD forum, so am trying here. Am buying a 553 loader, but need some help with the carrier and bucket. Been to the JD website, but can't find much specifics on the 73" heavy duty bucket vs. the materials bucket. I was wanting to know the differences in weights of the 2 buckets besides"thicker back and side panels." Also, what disadvantages are there in the global carrier? My dealer doesn't seem to think I really need it, but I don't know exactly what attachments I may buy for the FEL in the future.

I have no clue what the weight of the buckets is, but I would suggest the SSQA (skid-steer-quick-attach) carrier over the "global" one, SSQA attachments are available everywhere.

For that size loader I would pick S.S.
Bigger loaders the choice would be harder, it seems on the larger loaders JD is offering their 600/700 style hookup or Global. Global may be the wave of the future for large loaders. Time will tell. I like the hydraulic operator you can get for the Global connector too.
I now have a tractor with a JD 640SL loader that has the 600/700 style bucket hookup. None of my JD 245 loader attachments will hookup. Do I try and modify them to fit? Or try and change the loader to S.S. or Global, then modify everything to fit?
