I'm actually not from the States, but the same counts for Holland. The Germans are much more proud of their industry and are more willing to promote it. Therefor they rank with the top 3 of automaker countries in the world, though their home market isnt that big at all. Our "Hoogovens" steel ovens have been merged with British steel to form Corus, now taken over by Tata steel from India. I guess it isnt much different in the States, but i agree, too much production is heading to cheap labor countries...That's a shame. Too much manufacturing heads to cheap labor countries. We've lost our steel and along with it the industries using steel. Our scrap iron leaves the country as well. It has a terrible ripple effect downward. Good luck with the job search!
Everything we do to improve environmental impact, animal welfare, workers rights, will lower our competition standard so our chicken coups that are banned here in favour of freestalls are exported to Poland where they put an extra hen in each cage, the workers health rights make it uneconomical to galvanise here so that industry is moving to Germany and Belgium, and this rant could continue for hours...
