HI All,

I recently purchased a 72inch king kutter tiller.

I have jd 4320 with imatch.

I have read a few post where people have altered the implement to fit the I match.

How is this done? Has anyone done it with a kk tiller? any photos?

I also purchased pats ez change because I knew the tiller would not fit the imatch, but now my problem with using PATS hitch is the pto shaft is to short, only 4 inch overlap when it should be 6.

I am thinking if I can get it to fit the imatch, I should be able to gain 2 inches on the shaft.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated

Post a side profile picture of the implement so we can tell you what to do.

I'm looking at modifying my KKII to fit a quick hitch and the only way I see, is move the pins out 2" for clearance. So that would still mean you need a longer PTO shaft.

JYD, referring to the photo you attached, if you imagine measuring horizontally, the lower pins are very close to the square tube just below them. It gets even worse, because the flat metal strip just below the square tube also sticks forward a bit. Then, you put a bushing onto the pins to make them the right diameter for the Imatch, and it closes that close gap even more. So there isn't room for the Imatch lower hook to come up under and behind the bushed lower pin.
What I did was:
First, grind off the flat metal below the square tube, twice the width of each of the lower Imatch arms, and backwards till it is ground back under the square tube front vertical face. It doens't take too much grinding. See pic attached, its just about an eighth inch deep by a couple inches wide.
Next, you need bushings. Every little bit of room helps make this work, so I made bushings that were not concentric. In other words, they had the right inner diameter and outer diameter, but the inner diameter was drilled thru off-set as far as possible. Actually they were lathe-made, offsetting them in a four-jaw chuck to drill them off-center. Mounting them in the correct orientation to the pins made the new larger diameter move forward away from the front of the tiller, making it just possible for the Imatch hooks to grab the bushed pins. I welded these to the stock bolt-in pins. I found a pic of this, although it ain't a great pic.
The top pin location will have to be drilled possibly, to match your vertical distance. And a bushing up there to finish mounting it.
Shaft: I needed about three inches of extension. Instead of extending the tiller shaft, I bought a clamp-on extender for the tractor 540 shaft. I bought it from Agri-supply, but I just checked and don't find it on their website. Perhaps you could call them if you decide to go that route. It works well for me because it is very tight and straight so runs true. I leave it on the tractor all the time.

how does the clamp on extender work?

Mine is very similar to the one TLBuser posted the link to. But mine uses a 3/8 bolt slid thru it. You know, come to think of it, that extender is something I modified too. I am not sure what it looked like when it was new, but I added features to allow putting a 3/8" bolt thru it which locks it in place in the groove that exists on the tractor pto shaft.
The one shown in the posted link is what you may want to try.

I have a Harbor Freight version and had to do some serious cutting and grinding to the J hooks to get it to hook up to the tiller. Some implements work, some don't. I have still not figured out how to get it to work with the brush cutter.

So...is the Width OK?

Funny you post this, I'm working on modding mine myself..I've got a Sovema so its a little different.

Anywho, if the width is OK and the only thing you need to do is extend, then what I'd probably do is this... (hard to say exactly how i'd do it without actually seeing it)...
Cut off the existing pins...extend the flat bar (butt weld with a gusset underneath and on the back side) to a point where you will clear the square tubing... then repeat the same for the toplink...
