I'm looking at a Woods RD72 that is in very good condition with low usage hours for $1200. Does this sound like a good price to you guys? I have a MF 1428v with a loader. Any opinions on how well it will handle a 6 ft finish mower? Most of my land is relatively flat.

Thanks

Trey

Tractor will handle it fine. It the grass is thick and gets too tall, it will be too much for the mower and will slip the belt. Remember it is a mower - not a rotary cutter. Price is probably OK - not a steal, but your not getting taken advantage of either.

I would look at a Abby cutter. They are as heavy as a Woods for 1/2 the price. Don't know if you have a dealer in your area, but its probably worth a look. I think their website is abby-usa.com

If your Massey is 28 engine HP, your PTO HP is probably around 20-24. That's plenty for a 6' RFM. Worst case scenario is if the grass gets too high, you may have to slow down a bit.

My NorTrac 254 handles my 72" finish mower very well. 25 hp gear transmission. My front yard is 4 acres. In the spring I just have to drop down one gear. Very nice cut. I'd offer $1,000.00 see if he takes it.

Same here. I run a 6' Caroni on 24 PTO HP and not a single problem.

Here is a Woods/Frontier 1060R I use with 24 Hp. or 20 Pto. Pretty sweet with no problems what so ever.IMO the price is High for what they are asking. I gave 550.00 over 2 1/2 yrs. ago for the one in the pic. Only replaced the blades and the belt which had a slice in it before it did break.

I think your tractor will handle this mower just fine. Just be careful when raising the mower on a side hill. These mowers are heavy. If you leave the loader on the weight of the mower shouldn't be a problem. I'm a Woods RFM guy all the way. Wood has one of the best cuts if not the best, follow the ground better, and the wheels don't scalp. They are overbuilt. I've tried off brand RFM mowers. Woods is well worth the extra money. I have an 8 acre yard.

If it's in excellent condition... that would not be so bad... Good Wood's FM around here are a couple 100 more, $1400. I've been looking at Finishing Mowers for a while and just bought a 72" Brush Hog model for $750... had to do a little welding on it but in my mind that was just a little extra fun.

Who is this Abby implement guy? First he starts a post asking if anyone knows anything about Abby implements "cause a guy near him sells them, they look good for the price, much cheaper than others". And now one post later he is telling guys to buy them cause there a good deal? I think this is a spam guy.
