Ford 2 bottom Scotch Plow

OK...apparently made a dumb purchase. Got a good deal on a Ford 2 bottom 3 point plow (not exactly sure what model). Was missing the "points" (shares) I figured...no problem....until I did research. Apparently it's a "scotch" plow....and from what I've found out, these are pretty much obsolete.

Probably should have done research BEFORE purchasing.

Anybody have any idea where I might purchase some points or shares for this type of plow? Other solutions?

What do you think the reference to "scotch" means? Perhaps meaning cheap? or low end?
Didn't come with a rear furrow "wheel" ?

Painted up like a ferguson plow, but suspect that is close enough to being a Ford.

Improvise; find some that are similar and then have a welder adapt your plow to accept them.

Looks like a Ford 101 2-12 bottom plow. While not used for corporate farming, they are still used for small scale farming, gardens and food plots.

If the Ford 101 shares will fit, a John Deere or New Holland dealer should be able to get them. They come in 12, 14, 16 inch lengths.

Also, they can be ordered from Tractor Supply - in person - not online.

Ag Supply has some too but the are more expensive than a John Deere dealer.

Problem is - you may have to buy them in lots of six.

Looks exactly like the old Ford-Ferguson plows sitting in my barn (bought in 1952). New-Holland and/or Massey Ferguson dealer may have parts.

Its not a Ford 101....Its most likely a Ferg. If it has a tail/furrow wheel, look to see which side the "cleaner" is located. If its at the back end of the furrow wheel and going forward, its a Ferg., if its at the front edge and pointing backwards its a Dearborn...As far as a scotch vs a stubble, vs a general use, you can use different shares if you want to change out the moldboard as well. You will find that whatever you use, it will most likely not be cheap...good luck. BobG in VA

First...I'm not sure what model it is? All I know there is "Ford" in raised letters on the main beam (between the two bolts facing in the pic.) I will look at it with tips here.

Second a scotch bottom plow, the shares (points) are like this.

They are supposed to be good at cutting sod.

The plow didn't come with any....and my research suggest they may be difficult to come by.

Unless I can find some new moldboards may be in order. Not such a great deal after all.....

Those shares don't look anything like the Ford 101 shares. It also appears that the shins are one piece and part of the shares.

Not sure if the Ford 101 moldboards would mount correctly. How the frog is laid out would determine that. Attached is a photo that might help.

All I can say is good luck finding the parts. There are forges that make such things but they don't sell retail - only through tractor dealers. Going to a dealer would be your best bet.
