I am looking to get some feedback on our new brush cutting attachment. It has 7ft rotating boom with two 24' blades, skid steer connection, runs off hydraulic remotes on tractor/bobcat/frontend loader.. Ability to cut vertically-horizontally or any angle inbetween. Go to Chop-Zilla to see video. Let me know what you think!!

Looks like it would be useful for many operations. With it requiring 12 gpm hydraulic flow it is going to require a larger tractor than the compacts most of us here have. Not sure I would want to operate it in an open station tractor.

Good Luck,

interesting concept. im curious about the rotating arm. it seems to add some un-needed complications to the unit.

why not just put another 2' blade, making 3 in total? seems simpler.

good luck with your product

Rotating arm makes for cleaner/quicker cut, for smaller applications such a blueberries or even smaller wood(vines ect..) just having rotating saw blades would just push the wood out of the way rather than cut it. Action also sweeps cuts out of the way or into center of row rather than depris just falling into center of bush or whatever you are cutting.

I watched the video and it was interesting, to say the least! Not much actual information on the website, which makes me wonder, however....

It is the type of thing I certainly could use for trail maintenance :)

I definitely assume that it needs an enclosed cab and I'm not sure if most tractor cabs are strong enough. I know in skid steers they have what they call "demolition doors" which are heavy duty.

Anyone know the price for this thing? They claim it is economical, but I suspect their definition of "economical" is different than mine. Anyone actually used one?

Ken,

It is safe to say we do recommend using a cab-in tractor! Although a bolt on safety screen would work just as well. We are in the citrus hedging and topping business down hear in Florida and this is wear we got the concept for this unit. It basicly is a downsized version of one of our hedging machines to fit everyday farm tractors/bobcats. We have thousands of hours on this machine and being there is no real maintaince on this machine other than blade sharpening ever so often we have had no trouble what so ever. The unit price is $14,995 and is very economical for the work that it does especially compared to machines that do similiar jobs.

What can we add to our website that would make it more informative? We are open for any and all suggestions and greatly appreciate everyones input.

Thanks, Travis:thumbsup:

I am very interested in purchasing one of these to use in a business of trimming around fields and down farm roads. Is this feasible? My idea is to mount this on a Cat 910 or comparable with a forestry package. The logging tires would give flotation for all weather ability and the logging package would give falling objects protection. But in my case I would need quick attach/detach in order to be able to push brush into the woods after trimming.
I would like to know what you think of my idea and if you could make any suggestions.
Thanks,
Louis Morgan

I could see this being a liability issue with open blades rotating as they are. Also think if you are doing vertical cutting near the ground think it would be hard unless traveling very slow, to keep close to the ground but staying clear.

Now if used say no lower then 1 foot of the ground think might solve hitting the ground issue. Might think my other concern is crazy and it may be but depending on how much noise it produces (i would expect it to be good bit quieter than flair or rotating cutter) it might not be loud enough to warn people and animals to stay away.
