I have an 8-roller Delavan pump that works great on the rear PTO but it is a little trouble to install and uninstall, and the pump is rated for 1000 RPM anyway, so I was thinking of mounting it permanently on the front (1000 RPM) PTO. The problem is, the front PTO has a ten spline 1" shaft. Does anyone know where I might find a coupler to fit this oddball? I went to the JD dealer, but apparently all the "standard" front PTO attachments use yoke couplings.

Use this search term "10 spline to 6 spline PTO adapter" in Goggle or another search engine.
It brought up several hits in Goggle including this one which is what I think you want.

What tractor are we talking about here? Most Mid-PTO's run at 2100 RPM, not 1000.

Sorry. I'm mounting the pump on our Deere 955.

RoyJackson - Thanks for the reply. I'll check that out, it might work!

No problem!
You might check your local Tractor Supply. They carry some adapters.

I am 99.999% sure that has a 2100RPM mid-PTO...

I think so too, but that would be at the engine's PTO RPM. He can always run the tractor at a lower RPM

I see the OP mentions a 'front PTO.' I don't know anything about the 955; but was a European style front PTO offered for the 955, or is the OP confusing the mid PTO with a true front PTO?

I know the 4200 - 4400 had front PTO's as options in Europe.

^^ Right.

I've got a Rear @ 540, Mid @ 2000 and Front @ engine speed :)
