I just got an old 2 row 8' culitpacker off of a buddy. It is a Vulcan brand, made in Evansville, IN back I would guess 40 years or so. The front row of packers needs to be tighten, but works great. The back row comes off with ease and rolls, however the wood bushing on it need to be replaced. Any one know where to get these or have them made? No one in my area makes these or has access too. Thanks

I know there are flats inside the cast housing, however, most people take a piece of wood stock and turn it to a outside diameter that can be driven in there. Bore the hole thru the center for the axle, (usually 1 3/4 inch for the Vulcans). The fast way to keep it in the field is to drive wood slivers around the axle and housing to take out the slack. Oak, Hickory,Ash. Even pine would wear many years with proper lube. We have intentions to start making these when the spring rush is over. We have a fellow that works for us that has a wood Lathe at home. Ken Sweet

dhayse32, I found this old thread moments ago. How did replacement of that wooden bushing on your Vulcan cultipacker ever go? I just bought one yesterday that needs bushings and probably more.

I would appreciate it if you would PM me and give me the benefit of your experience.

Thanks.
