Default Can You Identify Model of This Bush Hog Shredder?

I ran across a Bush Hog 6 Foot Shredder for sale locally, and I felt the price was really right, so bought it yesterday. No paperwork, and just the remnants of the Bush Hog logo on the sides. Its the strongest, heaviest built 6 foot shredder I have ever seen. Its really a heavy duty model. But, I feel that I need to know the model for future parts, etc., so thought I would check here and see if someone with more knowledge than me might help identify which model it is. The guy I bought it from didn't know the model number, either. Here are some pics of it.

Can someone with good knowledge and history of Bush Hog brand shredders identify the model number of this shredder?

After several search tries, I found it. Don't know why my attempts to locate Bush Hog web site was unsuccessful. Kept leading to Bush Hog dealers, instead. But to make a long story short, it is a model 406.

I don't think it is a 406. I never saw a 406 with a Cat I a-frame and lift pins. It looks more to me like a 306. A 306 will have the very common 1-11/16" blade nuts, the 406 has larger nuts. Also, 406 blades are wider than any other BH blade; they are 4" or more. The metal tag atached to one of the gearbox mount bolts has the gearbox part number on it. You can run down the box #, and maybe pinpoint the model.

I think I recall hearing or reading that Bush Hog had been purchased by another manufacturer.

Please click on the following web site. At the bottom of the spec sheet, it lists Cat 1 as an option.

They may list a Cat I pin set, but that hitch A-frame is not in the 406 parts catalog, and I have not seen a 406 with that A-frame. You are looking at a 306 with either a 6111 or 60947 Cat I A-frame that has been cut up & modified with chain.

"Can someone with good knowledge and history of Bush Hog brand shredders identify the model number of this shredder?"

Will you consider the result if someone does?

OK, Thanks to RickB, who appears to have a very keen eye for these shredders, I believe I have a model 306. I was able to find a picture of a model 306 in the UK, and comparing it with photos of mine, I believe it is what I have. The 406 pictures looked a lot like it, but with some suttle differences. I had attributed that to perhaps newer model changes. The picture of the 306 I found looks right on. Looks like the model 306 might be a mid 70's production model, so finding any parts other than blades might be a little more difficult.

So RickB, this thing is armor plated, with 1/4 inch steel plate top and sides. Have any idea what this thing weighs? I know it sure feels heavy when I pick it up. Thanks for your help.

A little under 1100 lbs, according to the manual.

Parts won't be a problem for years to come, the 305/306 were a cornerstone of the Bush Hog line for years and years, only recently being discontinued. Yours is a later model as it has the metric PTO shaft & slipclutch.
