Since buying my tractor, I've been keeping my eyes out for some deals on attachments on craigslist and other classifieds. The last couple of weeks, I've had to work straight through the weekends(and throw in turkey season) so I've missed a few things I thought were pretty good deals. I guess it's a catch 22. The OT money is what has got me really wanting to pick up some things but it's also hindered me from going to pick some of these things up which have been a couple to three hours away. Had I really had a strong need, I would have made it happen, but here are a few I've 'missed' in the last couple of weeks.
6' Pulverizer $100
7.5' MF 25 disc $200
6' Gill Rollover BB $500

Yeah, you've got to be quick to respond to CL ads.
I bought a really nice Woods chipper/shredder...luckily, I was the first to respond.
Missed a 72" Woods RFM by beng a day late...******!

That is the difference between want and need. If you realy needed it you would have made time somehow to get it.

Craigslist is something you have to check multiple times a day if you are looking for something (s) in particular. I haven't had a lot of success on Craigslist, either being too slow, or when I do get there in time, it is grossly exagerated as to condition, and I back away hastily. Or some items are bait altogether by scam artists, that post an item way too good and you can't believe your eyes and can't type fast enough to send a message. But those deals are too good to be true and the scammers are looking for your email address, for future scams and identity fraud. You have probably seen a few. Like a John Deere 4 year old 35 HP, 4WD, with loader and Backhoe for $4200.00:D

Best to shop on Craigslist when they post a phone number. You are less likely to give much away of yourself when you call and inquire.

But.... I have been able to get a couple of items off Craigslist the last couple of years, that I felt were good deals. I bought a Gopher Plow where I was the first to respond, and a really good shape Bush Hog 72 inch rotary mower where I was the first to respond, too.

I cruise CL daily and have gotten most of my equipment there. the nice thing is something else will show up in a few days and sometimes even closer. What I hate is having a "new" piece here for two days and then find a better deal. In your case, except for the Gill (a fair price but I have seen some give-a-way pricing) a better deal is going to rare.

VERY true. I'm mainly in collection mode right now, I mean how many implements can you use with a 45hp tractor on 1.2 acres? If I had an immediate use, I could have made those trips easily. Sadly, I'm kind of a craigslist addict when I'm in the market for things.

I've done ok...once saw a listing for a $500 8' Ford Flail mower, but didn't have the money to spend, a couple days later for a guy wanting to buy a 6' rotary. Called on the Flail mower, still there...ok. Called the wtb ad, $500 for my moderately well used KK that I bought at a farm sale sounded good. He came brought cash, I left with cash and trailer and bought flail. Now I have a 8' Ford 917 flail mower and love it.

Recently picked up a 50" New Holland 3pt tiller with paint still on the tines for 1/3 of new price...pretty happy about that deal.

Hi everybody, my name is Keith and I'm a CL addict. :D Seriously, I love CL for finding some great deals. I actually have bought some items priced so low purely with the intention of reselling them and making a few bucks, and have done so a few times. If you want to do some serious CL searching, use this website, the only caveat is that you have to have Mozilla Firefox (which is free) to use it. It will let you search multiple cities all at once.

crazedlist.org : search craigslist like a madman

But yeah, I found my 790 on CL, and have even seen a couple others that were better deals than the one I bought. If I had a place to park them, I honestly think I could have bought and resold them both for a profit. Have also bought and sold several of my attachments on CL. You just have to look often, be quick, and be sure of what you are getting when you find something you are interested in.

Just my luck, another craigslist addict within an hour's drive.
