I have been watching the operations on the farms that surround mine for a couple of years now. Looks to me like most all of them hire the harvesting out as it is the same combine rig and trucks in the fields.
I am not retired but have a very large amount of personal, sick, vacation and comp time accrued. At the risk of way oversimplifying - a few days to disc in fall and a handful of days to plant, fertilize in early spring even if taken all at once would be ok.

Are you sure that the farmer doing the harvesting has just not leased out all these adjacent landowners fields and i just going from one field to the other picking his crops on land that he rented/leased from these folks?

Yeah pretty sure. There are several different folks leasing/owning the fields and they do the prep, planting etc.

And a Kioti DK45SE HST tractor and a 7.5 ft wide disc.
Is it crazy to try and row crop that amount of acreage with with the Kioti and some kind of old seed drill?
I do not have the seed drill yet. Any recomendations on what size and/or model? I would not mind having to refurbish the drill assuming it would be reasonably reliable and not end up costing what a new drill would cost.
If an old/used seed drill is not advisable what is the most reasonably priced new drill?

I don't think it crazy to try to farm that amount of acreage. I think you want a corn planter instead of a drill. I would buy an old Deere 4 row 7000, you can by them cheap and use it to plant your corn (and beans?) You could either plant the spacing it is set at or adjust it or plant a double pass.

I would do it in a heartbeat, you already have the tractor and that will be the most expensive part.
