Does anyone have or know where i can find a chart that has the different seed spacing and fertilizer rates with the corresponding sprocket sizes for an old allis chalmers corn planter. Thanks.

If you do not find a chart you should be able to calculate it. Measure the diameter of the drive wheel load some seed and fertilizer into you planter, then spin the drive wheel three or four revolutions. Place separate pails under the seed and fertilizer tubes to collect all the seed and fertilizer dropped. Count the seeds dropped and weigh the fertilizer.

This is the way I've caluclated the seed spacing and lbs/acre of fertilizer. Someone correct me if my math is incorrect or if there is a simpler way.

To calculate the seed spacing multiply the diameter of the drive wheel by the number of revolutions made and divide the result by the number of seeds collected. ie. Drive wheel diameter is 50" and you collected 30 seeds your seed spacing would be 6.66" assuming you made 4 revolutions of the drive wheel. 50" x 4 revolutions / 30 seeds collected = 6.66. If your row spacing is 30" you multiply 12" x 17570'/6.66" for seed population per acre which would be approximately 31,600.

Calculating the fertilizer rate is a little different. Assuming you collected 1oz of fertilizer in four revolutions (50" x 4 revolutions = 200" = 16.6') of the drive wheel.

Fertilizer collected (1oz) / distance traveled (16.6') x 17570 (30" row spacing) = 1058 lbs fertilizer / acre.

Hi Deere4100, did you ever find the sprocket chard for your corn planter? I have the same one, and I'm trying to get from a corn rate to a dry bean rate. Thanks!
