I think I may buy the Tractor Supply PHD today. It seems like the best deal for what I will be using it for. They have it on sale for $540 including tax and a 9" auger bit. Although the bit is $20 cheaper on their website, so I may question that...

Brown,

That's a great price. I ordered the Leinbach from Everything attachments. Smart Farmer has it for a few bucks less on ebay. When I priced out the TSC model, it came out to be about the same price. TSC is about 40 minutes away, so I figured between the 2 hours or so back and forth and the $15 in fuel, I'll just have the Leinbach delivered.

asylum575 - Thanks for all your input. I was doing the same cost analysis for myself. Leinbach and TSC ended up nearly the same price. If I ordered the Leinbach, I was going with everythingattachments for $5 more since I wasn't real impressed with smartfarmer when I e-mailed some questions, and it seems that everything attachments is a "partner" here on this website.

When I was at TSC yesterday, I saw that it was on sale $50 off, plus 10% off everything for a grand opening. Two different TSC's are only about 20 minutes from my house, and we are buying other stuff there anyway to take advantage of the 10% off. Hopefully it holds up well. Thanks again.

Picked it up at TSC today. It is a SpeeCo model badged as FarmForce. Actually paid $525 since the auger bit had a cheaper price online. It was $125 online and $140 at the store. The store honored the online price. Now I can't wait to get it put together and use it!

Good luck with it.

I'm waiting for my last package to come in tomorrow. I have 4 footings for a deck to dig. Later this summer, I'll work on about 100 ft of fence.

Depends what on you want in a PHD. My Bush Hog PHD was $1,200. The optional parking stand was an additional $200.00. The augers have replaceable "Bear Claw" teeth. I had to put up 2,000' of fence in a very short time. The parking stand and "Bear Claw" teeth made this possible.

TSC implements scare me. Actually so does their machinery... only more.

It depends on what one needs. For a 100' of fence a TSC PHD is enough. For 2,000' of fence it is a whole different story. Some think these high dollar implements are just money for a brand name. Actually it's money well spent for a good attachment. The more expensive brand names are much easier to use and are designed to last a life time. I did cheap on implements for decades. I went top quality three years ago. It's the way to go.

I was in TSC the other day buying bolts, drove by a brand new york rake. The thing was bent! That's how bad the stuff is. My friend has a back blade, came with a tractor she bought, guess what? It's bent. Does that company sell anything that's not bent, favors bending or willing to be easily be bent by dragging behind a tricycle?

I think you need to do some research and also determine how hard or often your gonna use those implements.

For example.......Cheap three point blades and landscape rakes are notoriously bad buys....and it pays to buy the better brands IMO. But low price tillers and rotary cutters seem to perform pretty well for many peoples needs.

It don't hurt to have an eye for 'chinery or some experience.
