Best way to collect chips from chipper??

What are some of your ideas for collecting your chips from your PTO chipper? I have shot them into tubs, garbage cans, and a mesh bag. All have weaknesses. The bag fills quickly and falls off, you miss at least 20% of the chips with tubs/cans. I am thinking about hooking up some kind of tube to the chute and funneling the chips into the garbage can. What do you all think? Got better ideas?

I have never tried it but I imagine that the type of tube used for leaf collection systems could be placed over the chipper output and directed into whatever type of receptacle you have. I would think the easiest would be to direct them into some soft of trailer with sides on it.

small trailer with sides. I have a 4 1/2'x8' trailer that I'm going to put sides on then collect my chips.
I've chipped onto a big tarp then pulled the the tarp together and moved it where I needed. Even lifted it once into the bed of a truck. Worked well.

Unfortunately, my chipper just dumps the chips under it. But, considering the price I paid for it, and the fairly little use (a few days during the season), I reckon a little raking and shoveling is worthwhile.

My wife call me " Monk " - I pick them up two at a time ( even number ) and then carry them 2 at a time to our Island in the fornt yard and put them in place. It takes a while but I enjoy the exercise....:laughing::thumbsup:

If no trailer or pickup make a three walled affair from old plywood, tarps,
tin roofing, matresses :laughing:, or whatever to contain the chips to a
reasonable area. After you have a pile turn around and move them with your FEL.

I've got to keep a rake handy anyway. I've got to clean the chips out from underneath the chipper occasionally so they don't clog up the screen.
