Does anybody here run a MX6 on a 4120? I'm looking to get a new rotary mower and just can't deside on a 5 or 6.

I purchased the MX6 prior to the 4520 tractor and used it behind my older 820. So I have used it with a 35 hp tractor and the 60 hp tractor. Used it a couple of times behind my 110tlb as well which has similar power as the 4120.

All three machines handle the mower's weight without problems but obviously the 4520 can be driven faster through heavy brush and still maintain top speed.

For your 4120 I would recomend the MX6 over the MX5 as long as you have the proper ballast this would be a good match for you.

I agree with previous poster. I have a 4310 32hp. and it cuts great. You have I thinf a wider wheel base that the MX6 should cover.

I want to move the rears out from the stock position. They are only less than 2" from the fender wells now (the closest in). I think just switching sides with the tires will put them about 2" farther out per side. FWIW, I mow with the loader on.

I use a Rhino SE6 which I think is similar in size and weight to that JD mower. The 4120 has more than enough power for this mower and can cut as fast as I can safely move, even in thick stuff. You definitely want a 6-footer with that tractor as a 5 will not quite cover the width of the tractor, even with the rear wheels at the narrowest setting.

I use a mx-6 on a 4320. I would definitely recommend the mx-6 over the mx-5. Just make sure you have a lot of front weights or FEL on the tractor. The MX-6 is a heavy brush cutter!

I leave the loader frame on but drop the quick-release bucket (1 minute job). This totally eliminates the bounce that you get at high speed with the bucket on, greatly improves forward visibility and air flow to the radiator, compared to leaving the bucket on, and leaves the tractor ballasted just about perfect for the heavy rear mower.

Does anybody use a HF quick hitch w/ the mx6? I have one on my ford 641 that I'm thinking about setting up on the 4120.

I easily ran a 6' mower on a JD 3000 series and now on a JD 4000 series. Definitely go with 6' on the 4000 series. You can alway mower narrower but never wider.:D
