Default Mower Attachment for Ford Jubilee

    Hello all,

My father owns a Ford Jubilee tractor that he has mentioned he has wanted to get a mowing attachment for at some point. Currently we are hand mowing a 1/2 mile driveway and another 1-2 acres of grass using two push mowers. The grass is field weeds that we are able to keep at a 1ft level at maximum and would like a close cut. I don't know how much about these products so any help would be much appreciated.

If that old machine has a 3PH and PTO, look for a 5'-6' rear finishing mower (if lawn type grasses) or a 5' rotary cutter (if field grasses or brush).
If those aren't what you're looking for (meaning the mowing is on an embankment), a sicklebar mower may be what you need.
Since you're hand mowing...are you using lawn mowers or ?

Brush hogs are fine, howerver, leave a rougher finish and are fogiving when you need to skip a few weeks between mowings, Finish mower for nicer, lower cut lawn lookor a sickle mower for mowing banks or under trees etc. Ken Sweet

Thanks for the input guys. It is relatively flat (no embankment) and no trees to worry about. What brands are the best when looking at finishing mowers?

We have sold the "First Choice" finish mowers since thier inception. Had no problems and lots of guys on TBN have them or the Kioti (same mower). Our 6 ft runs $1395 at our store here in Ky. Shipping is very reasonable and with your zip code, I would be glad to figure it? Click on our website below and go to New Compact Implements for a picture of the mower. Ken Sweet

That tractor will handle a 5 ft bushog with not much problem other than being a little light in the front end.

I've done a LOT of mowing with that setup in some stuff I could barely SEE over while sitting on the tractor LOL

I owned a '53 Jubilee for a few years and mowed a few acres of pasture with a 5' bush hog.

Just a word of caution from the safety police (if you didn't already know this). Be sure you get one of these if you choose to run a bush hog behind that tractor. It's called an "Overrunning PTO Coupler":

It prevents momentum from the mower from being transferred through the PTO shaft and back through the wheels of your tractor. It decouples the mower from the PTO shaft in one direction. It allows the tractor to power the mower without the mower "powering" the tractor. ie. It helps prevent putting your tractor through a fence or into a tree.

Newer tractors have this feature built in. Older tractors, like the Jubilee, should have this attachment for safety.

I'm not sure if you'd need it for a finish mower. Never ran one of those behind my Jubilee. I don't know if they carry as much momentum as a bush hog...

We have a Ford 54 NAA "Jubilee" and we use a 5' rotary cutter and Caroni finish mower, both need the over run, but the rotary cutter is worse. We have had the Caroni for over twenty years and used it hard; never tried anything else. We use the rotary cutter more than the RFM, but either will work as mentioned.
