Flail Mower Flail or finish mower?

I normally mow my lawns with riding mowers but this year the rain has made it so I could not keep up with mowing it all. Some of my meadows look like hay fields and I will have to use the tractor with the bush hog to cut it do to where I can mow it with the riding mowers. I am now thinking that I may need a finish mower or a flail for the tractor. I am wondering if a flail would mulch the grass better and make it so I do not have to run a lawn rake over it to pick up the clumps when the grass gets to long. Does any one use a flail on lawns here?

i've run my finish flail mower on some lawn. the clippings just end up on top of the cut grass. if the grass you are cutting has any real length to it, it will sit on top, dry up and just look like trash. anyway, that's my experience with an old Mott finish flail.

I do. It looks as good as any other type mower if you don't catch it.

Oh here they are...

All of this grass was cut with this flail but I don't use it all the time.
When I cut as low as I like my grass to be, the flail "V" knives will cut the grass runners but I'm talking less than an inch high. On taller grass, it's no biggie.
YMMV
