lubrication-bush hog gearbox

bought a used bushhog and not sure how to lubricate the gear box. has two hex head set plugs in it, one above the other. top one is larger and bottom one much smaller. I think the top one is the fill plug and the bottom one is where one checks the fill level. { i guess could almost be the drain plug} ques, do i fill until gear oil comes out the bottom hole:confused2: or fill up to the top plug hole

Cant say for sure without seeing it. Most gearboxes are full at the bottom of the input shaft. Ken Sweet

Yes, that is the way my bush hog gear box is ..fill at the top until it runs out of the one on the side or bottom and then put the nut back in.

thanks guys for the inputs, i'll keep checking bottom hole and if gear oil comes out, i'll assume she's full. Have a great one
