Far a while now i have been looking for a small round baler to bale weeds. and Serecia grass and sage for erosion controll bales at work. I also wanted a small baler for baling wheat straw and pine needles for my garden mulch. I looked at an IHI star baler but the price was way off for me. I looked into an old AC Roto Baler and found a few but they arent for sale. A while back the local Branson dealer took in 3 tractors and a mini baler on a trade. Its a Takina Made in Japan that came over from a grey dealer. THe tractor it was on was a tiny Mitsubishi that couldnt handle it well. I asked about it a few months ago and they wanted 1500 for it. I noticed it sat there since last summer. I was there looking at a Mcormick tractor and the Owner of the lot told me I needed that baler. I looked at it and watched it work and such then he popped me with a price of 500 cash for it.

He did a demo with it and I bought it. I had to put it in storage for a few weeks till i get my vacation and some extra landfill training in then I can use it. I like the way the thing rides the 3 point hitch and all the hydraulics are selfcontained.

I looked into a square baler but I saw and heard all the nightmare stories of timing and knotters and such involced with them. This balers is alot more simple withe the chain like a NH baler. It ties alot more simple than a larger baler.

We'll be anxious to see some pics and hear more about how it works for you.

I don't think that little round baler will work well for you at all. You should drop it off at my house and save yourself the trouble

I'll second the pictures request, though, for the baler and the output.

When you say you like the way it rides the 3 pt. hitch, are you saying it is a pick up implemant rather than a pull type? Sounds like a very interesting baler. What size tractor will you use it on? Please post pics.

By the way, the price sounds like a steal especially if it works good.

Sorry about the delayed reply, I had to go to Florida for my aniversary. The baler is a 3 point attach ment that has wheels like a regular balers for depth and pickups like a standard baler. It ties the bales sorta like an old AC Rotobaler and makes a bale about that size. he said he couldnt sell it because of the name and folkswere scared of it. It looks like the inside of a NH baler with the chains and bars. It has a buzzer and an electric knife.

The hydraulics are self contained and run by the pto. It looks like the IHI Star balers they sell in florida. I already have an order for 50 bales for fall decorations.

It was used on a 20 hp Mitsubishi but it was too small, When he would pick up the baler the tractor had to be steered with the brakes. I want to use it behind my YM3000 30 hp. its big enough to handle it, I want to use it in shows to behind dads 991 Pasquali with a loader. I have about 12 acres of good ground to bale on for free.

I got my baler home Saturday and tried it out and love it. Never really baled anything before other than working on them and raking. I was wrong on the name its a Takakita. I had some older round bales here a friend gave me for compost material. I tore one up with the excavator and shook out a windrow. I baled it perfectly. ITs alot simpler than a square baler I was looking at.

I hope to post a few pics later.

I got to finally get in the ha feilds and bale about 150 bales Friday evening/night. It baled great. I had been rebaling old round bales I got for compost stock for erosion control. THe bales were a bit shaggy. I got to bale some great hay the windrows were a bit larger than id have liked but the feild had over grown. I cut it on the farm that borders work. I baled it on the halves. It took a while on some tying because I didnt notice another pullye on the string feeder that allowed it to tie faster. My 3000 Yanmar quit charging so dad wanted me to tr out his new LS I 3040 he traded for. WIth the live pto it baled fast and comfortably.

Those baby bales look like ones you would see when you put two large bales together out in the field and wait a few weeks lol!!

Really though, I've never seen bales made that small before. I guess the japanese do everything in smaller portions. I can imagine they would be popular for fall and halloween decorations though. Also, as you mentioned, they would be great for eroision control too.

Just curious but will you be doing any baling for livestock? Or is it intended more for the uses you already had in mind? How much do the dried bales weigh?

Kebo I have sold most of my rebales to women as decorations lol . Walmart has the little shoe box sized straw bales for 8.50 each. I sell this same bale for that lol. One lady has a home built mini hay wagon she had made that sits out fronm of here house this time of year behind her husbands retored JD lawn tractor. And her brother inlaw has a JD pedal tractor with a set of bales from me on a steel wheeled miniature wagon.

Its so hard to find a person to bale squares now a days. I want to have a a couple milk goats I want to feed Kudzu hay to and a few pigs I want to bed in hay and also grind in with their feed with an old feed mill. I swore I wouldnt have any goats but I think I will pen them in a seperate area other than near my shop. I also have been given permission to bale all the wheat straw I want behind a farmers wheat feild. I want this for blowing on slopes with my mulch blower, and for mulching my truck patch.

Also Im working on a trade for mowing in between a the rows on a pine plantation for balig pine bales. They sell for 15 bucks each at lowes.
