I have the Leinbach. It works as advertised. It's been used to do the garden the last two years. I bought mine from Everything Attachments. When delivered, the box had been torn in shipment and parts were missing. Sent Ted and guys pictures of the box and parts included and they sent replacements right away.

If i were buying today, i would look at the one EA has started marketing. I've bought several things from them with the only problem being mentioned above. They fixed it right away.

Do you have just the disk assemblies? Looks like that framework would be really easy to cobble together with some square tube.

You can get the disc assemblies at Agri Supply - Farm Supplies, Tools, Lawn Mower Blades, Cast Iron Cookware . Here's a picture of the one I "cobbled" together. HTH Mark

I assume you made that clamp assembly rather than bought it. I like it. The 'T' frame is the simplest I've seen yet in my TBN search this evening.

Yes, I made the clamps from 1 1/4" pipe, and some scrap tread plate. I'd made the same set up last year, using u-bolts as clamps. I couldn't get it tight enough to keep the discs from turning a little in the clamps. The 3 point frame tube is 2", 1/4" wall.

I got the 14" disk with 22" shanks from Ag-Supply and put them on my old cultivator frame this weekend. They worked great where the ground had dried out enough, got 7.5" of rain last week. Can't wait for the other fields to dry out so I can use my new toy.

Jim, I'd love to see a picture of your hiller mounted on your cultivator. I put mine on my cultivator and left a middle sweep to lay out a planting furrow on top of the bed. The shafts on the hillers from AgriSupply were just a bit smaller than my sweeps, so I had to shim around them so the cultivator feet would tighten down. My hillers and a photo of my bedded garden are below.

Is it just me, or is the use of disc hillers like these a relatively new thing? As kids we planted acres and acres of vegetable crops in furrowed rows, but the only hills were ones we built by hand to plant melons, squash, cucumbers, etc. I have so many implements now that I would have killed for as a kid. We wore out a one-way plow and now my tiller does a similar job much quicker and far better. We had that one-way, a cultivator, a 2-bottom plow, a dirt scoop, and spike and tooth harrows. In those days the only mowers I saw powered by the PTO were sickle-bar mowers. I don't recall seeing rotary cutters until the late 50's or 60's. I bet I could ask Ken Sweet and he'd know when they were first used.
