Tractor
3010 Kubota with 482 frt loader
Just bought a used Long rototiller for $300 dollars. Don't know if price good or bad. Having purchased a new 3010 tractor with new loader, box blade, rotory shredder and finishing mower left me broke so I decided to go with used rototiller. It seems to turn very fast and seems to run smooth. My brother tells me the tines are worn out and they should be changed. Where do I get parts for this tiller. Do they still make this tiller. Are parts still available. With my luck this tiller is probably isolete. I had never seen a mean looking animal like this one. But it seems to do the job. It beats the fifteen hundred dollars I cannot afford. Someone told me most tiller tines are intechangable. Is this correct. Can anyone help. Thank you.

There are several Longs still in use in my area. Having said that I think that you can still get parts for them. A while back, I ask my dealer how much a Long in far condition was worth and I believe that he said that it was worth around $500. But of course every area is different.

I bought one at an auction for $325 (no wheels though!). I think the model # is 1537. It worked great until I misadjusted the toplink, tried raising it and sheared the splined PTO shaft off of it. I ended up finding a few Long dealers in the south who faxed me parts lists etc. They weren't exactly cheap, but at least they're available. Luckily, I got a local welder to put it back together for $40 instead of the $400+ to get it fixed with new parts.

I don't have the info near me now (at work), but try searching the web for Long tractor dealers. Don't even waste your time searching for the tiller model number. Email or call them and they should be helpful. Also, it seems that Long finally got their site up. http://www.longagri.com/ Try their dealer search too. Good luck...

Thanks for the quick replies. I will look up the closest dealer to my area. As of now I am only interested in new tines. I may change my mine once I get pricing on them. I hope they are within reason. Thank you again.
Thanks for the email address.

Would you mind replying to this with the tine price after you get it? Mine are kind of worn and I was curious what it would cost to replace most of them. Thanks!

Check to see if the tines have the same size as other tillers. I replaced the tines on my Gearmore last winter. The price is about $5.50 per tine. There are hardened tines for about $8.00 per tine. Also there are "C" shaped tines and "L" shaped tines, the "L" shaped take more HP because there is more blade in the ground.

Do the C tines work any differently than the L tines?

G, Thanks for the email address. Found a dealer fifty miles from me. Want ten bucks a piece. No way. Rototiller has forty eight tines. $480.00 bucks plus tax, shipping. I will probably continue to use mine as is. More passes and more seat time, I guest. I use it only for gardening anyway. Maybe Santa Might bring one in later. If its alright with Madam Santa. If any of you see good deal on tines that would fit, please let met know. Thank you.
