So like I had mentioned earlier in another post, I got this 72" Mott flail mower from junk yard of sorts. Turns out one of the bearings on the cuttershaft had no balls to it. Instead of buying the bearing listed on Flailmaster for it, I went to a local bearing shop. They looked at it puzzled for some time. They didn't have one exactly like it, so I got a wide 206 bearing. After about 30 min of use, that $45 bearing is junk. Long story, but its no more.

Now I'm wondering if I should just order the one from Flailmaster for $97. Anyone know another place to get a bearing for one of these? I have nothing against Flailmaster, I'm just looking for options....maybe cheaper options.

The bearing on the other side looks fine, and feels tight.

thanks for the help.

I get most of my bearings at Motion Industries. What is the bering number that you need?

Sounds like your really saving money. I take the used to Motion and they usually can match it up with current production models. If the inside and outside diameters are good..... you have other problems like a twisted / bent rotar. Check farther.

Sealmaster SK-945
Motion says this is a special cast housing bearing made for the mower. Waiting on a price.

Sealmaster SK-945 is 55.72. Might be freight added to that. 2 week delivery.

Yeah, about the saving money thing....not so much.

The problem with the 206 bearing was that the inner race of the original bearing was wider than the outer race. Thats what threw the bearing shop for a loop.

Not thinking about it much, I just pressed in the 206 bearing and tightened the bold down on it.....well, there was about 1/8 in space on the inside where the wider race would have contacted the shaft and allowed the bolt to tighten down on. My guess is I pushed the inner race of the new bearing 1/8 in or so in, and popped the seal allowing all kinds of grass and junk to get in there.

My mistake. Just need to get it going before I go to cut some more.

thanks again.

Turns out theres a Motion Industries location about an hour from here. I emailed the contact to see if they had something in stock. I'd like to compare the two. All I have from the old bearing is an inner and outer race though. Where did you guys find the info on the OEM parts for the mower? I've been searching for it, but come up empty handed.

thanks for the quick help.
