    Default Oliver 2 bottom plow???

We recently purchased a house that has a plow sitting on the property. We didn't really give it any thought until our neighbor stopped and asked if we wanted to sell it. He has a friend that may be interested in it. We would sell it but have no idea what it is or what it is worth. I have done a little research online. I think, based on the numbers stamped into some of the parts, it is an Oliver. Can anyone tell me anything about it or what it would be worth? It seems to be in pretty good shape but I know nothing of farming. The green on the blade things in one picture are just weeds, not paint. I have no idea if all of the parts are original or if anything is missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We want to be fair but not get taken advantage of because we don't know.

I believe those old Oliver plows were thought to be good plows in their time. However small pull-type plows are not in high demand....and many of 'em sit until they get rusty and end up being sold for scrap...etc etc. They are just too small for most farmers....and then too....moldboard plowing is not a typical practice in today's times.

Still....if somebody wants it....IMO it's worth $250.....or so??? Maybe somebody else will chime in....but that's what I would ask for.

I know nothing about pull type plows, but that one is really nice. Obviously it has been restored or not used much. I do know plows are in demand from deer hunters for food plot preparation. I just sold a two bottom 3 point hitch plow for $450, and it was not nearly as complex as yours. I'll bet it is worth quite a bit more. I would really research it before giving it away, as these are rare. You need to get "sweettractors" opinion. He seems to know lots about old implements and value.

Notice how "thin" the bottom edge of the moldboard is....comes to a "knifeblade" thickness...these would need to be replaced if you were to use it a lot..the edge at the bottom should be just as thick as the top...over all though its a decent looking plow...I also note the it probably has been used within a couple of years as the trip rope has not disintergrated yet. You won't know how to price it until you hook it up to something and see if the trip clutch still works (this raises and lowers the plow)...BobG in VA

EDIT: Just noted the "coupler" at the front of the plow...is that an Allis C "snap coupler"?

First of all...a big THANKS to everyone for their input. Regarding the question about the coupler, I really have no idea what is there. If there is some way for me to look at it and tell, I would be happy to do so to answer your question. Or, I could try to take a close up picture if that would answer it. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate everyone taking the time to comment. It is so nice to have a forum to talk to people who know a little something about this. It is very interesting to learn about it. We are in the northern part of Michigan's lower penninsula. Deer hunting is big here so that may be the motivation of the person who is supposed to be interested in it.
