Koeing PTO winch

Does anyone have any info on Koeing Iron Works, in Houston, TX? I rescued a worm drive (PTO) winch from becoming scrap metal. In the process of cleaning and untangling the cable, I discovered that the gear case had been cracked in two, and I'd like to know if there are parts, before I try to have it welded or bonded (it looks like aluminum or pot metal). I can't find anything on the web using standard search engines. I wonder if some of you Texans know anything about these guys - they have been around for a long time.

Does it look like this one? do a search for koenig winch and you'll find other sites that may be of help. Spelling in the title is a bit like a mutant - the "I" is in the wrong location..............chim

Y'know, I've referred to them as Koenig's all my life, but when I checked the spelling in my little date book, where I keep invaluable information like how many grains in a pound (7000), I had mispelled it. Of course, the book is never wrong, so I just wrote it out the way it was spelled.....and did my searches that way, too. Even searched on this board for them that way.

Now you all know what sort of knucklehead you're dealing with - as if you didn't already. Thanks, Jim - all of a sudden, the internet is filled with Koenig winches. Gee. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif/w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Man, is spelling ever important /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif/w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif. I've got one of these for my early bronco (not installed yet) Parts are non existant new from Kioneg. They make truck bodies or somthing now and no longer support the old winches. I'd either repair whatcha got or find one for parts.

Sometimes when I am not sure of spelling or the proper name of something I'm searching for, I try different spellings or intentionally omit something. The results are better sometimes by submitting incomplete info rather than a wrong name. Are you a handloader too?.......................chim

Jim - I reload infrequently. It's another one of those things we have the equipment for, and need to set up. Hopefully, after a few years of putting most of the effort into the house & raising young 'uns, we can start to get ourselves more organized. The winch is just a small thing I got, partially worked on, and threw under the bench for "someday".

Well, now that you reminded me. It's hard for me to remember what I said to whom, especially when there's no face to remember it with. Can't complain though - it keeps me honest. I'd have too much trouble keeping track of the stories if I lied to them /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Early last week I reloaded around 400 .45ACP (let's all give Mike Dillon a round of applause) for some practice and a match. I hadn't been shooting much other than a .22 auto pistol for a while. It felt good to get some range time with a 1911...............chim

That's mostly what we're doing, too - .22 practice. Got the Single Six running well, and found out it shoots a bit high at 7-10 yds, so next we're gonna try it a 25-50 yds. Mostly we use .22's and a pile of old 12"x24" ceiling tiles I replaced for targets. We set them up on the end of a stack of 4' poplar; the white tile is easy to see from a disance, and the poplar sucks up the lead. Everything gets re-used around here.

We finally found a Contender in 45/410, but so far have only tried the .223 barrel we had before. Made a little bob boo the first time out: The boys were shooting while I was working on the back of the house, and I was too lazy to go get another set of earphones, and never thought about it when I chucked up a .223 in the 10" Contender barrel, 'cause it's so small. "HUH? What'd you say, Son? Oh, THERE's the earphones!" When the ringing stopped, and I got a set of phones on my head, we determined that the .223 needs to be tried at 50 & 100 yds, as it is way high at 20yd. Guess it's really more of a rifle than a handgun.

Since birdy season starts Tuesday, we need to pattern the .410 (maybe Monday), and go for a walk soon. Soon as clapboarding and landscaping and garden work is done, it's time to set up the press and try some of the recipies fishman suggested for the S&W 681, too.
