Bobcat CT450
I have a Bobcat CT450 Compact Tractor. I need a small boom flail mower to mow a few thousand feet of ditches on a regular basis.

I bought a Diamond Energy 60 a while back, but it is short a couple of feet from where I need it to reach.

I am looking now at the Diamond River 1230 or the Ferri TD 37 or the Tiger RBF-12C.

Any recommendations? Perhaps other brands/models? I would really like to get something used to save some money, but haven't found much on the internet.

Also, I have a Diamond Energy 60 to sell. Any ideas where I should promote it?

Thanks,
Darren Vallaire

You can offer it for sale here or iron mart or tractor house, craigs list etc.

A small boom mounted flail gets you into a small unit from Alamo or Rhino or a mconnel or any of the italian brands like berti and others.

Another option is the Mconnel swing trim but I dont know who the stateside importer/dealer is.

Is there any reason you could not want to install a front mounted 4 foot flail mower form Caroni on you tractor to drive and back out when mowing?

Or do you suffer from narror ditch itus, which are deep narrow troughs?

All you would need is ballast box and loaded rears if you dont have them already if you have ditch you can safely drive doen and back up.

Another option is the sabre samurai, I tried to upload the PDF but is too big so

you can mount it on a front loader bucket if you have a front end loader on your tractor

I have 2 ditches, one is almost 2,000 feet long, the other is only 500 feet long. Ditches are about 6 feet wide. Depth is only about 1 - 2 feet.

If I understand you correctly I would have to drive forward mowing perpendicular to the ditch, then back up, move over and repeat. If that is what you mean, I think it would just take way too long that way.

The Energy 60 flail I have now will swing out 6 feet from tractor center, but the 36" of cutting it gets me past my tractor tire is about 6 inches short of what I really need. The Saber Samurai would have the same problem for me.

My tractor weighs 3847 lbs plus it has a front end loader that Bobcat says weighs 1312 lbs. So I presume the total weight to be 5159 lbs.

The Sabre Samurai can be paired and overlap according to the manufacturer so a bit of welding would build a frame to attach to the bucket and get 7 feet in total with a foot of overlap.

Perhaps the boom mounted propane weed dragon would be a better solution as the propane burners are controlled within the burner hoods

I got the Tiger 12c on my DK40, I bought it used last winter out of WI, I stumbled on it looking throught the used tractors in TractorHouse.com I payed half price compared to a brand new one.
I had to modify my hitch some to use this mower because my tractor has Cat1 lift arms and the Tiger series all use cat2 hook ups, I just welded on extra Cat 2 eyes to my lift arms just under the cat1 arms you can see it the the picture below
