Ever seen a Bush hog like this? Offset. PIC FIXED

This one can offset to one side. Pretty neat idea. Would certainly help when doing ditches, but I don't know how stable the machine would be.

Agree with the excessive drive line angle, but there is also something missing. Both left and right hook-ups are there for the center hook-up, but the right support is missing for the left (offset) hook-up. Am I missing something?
David

Could this have been modified for a much larger tractor (wider three point hitch set-up)?

We have a Hardee 6' offset bush hog. They have been making them for 30+ years. The first one we had was a 5' combo center-offset rig similar to the one pictured(but the 3pt linkage was a little better designed). The one we have now is 6' and is only used in the offset position. The U-joints do constantly run at an angle and have to be greased every 4hrs. On our IH 454 tractor the 6' cutter sticks out about 18" to the right side, great for getting closer to pond edges, cutting back brush along the woods, etc. The only drawback is that all of the weight is on the right lower 3pt link which can make it hard to level, also takes a tractor with a pretty stout 3pt hitch.

the big thing i see is an excessive driveline angle. that'd have to be hard on U joints

I guess if your tractor was offset with one axle nonger than the other the driveline may not be an issue.. however the pin setup is odd..

Interesting. Obviously a "homemade" job that isn't quite finished yet as the offset mount is not all there.

Stability? Don't know but if you didn't get too wild with it you'd probably be okay.......too small a tractor or too steep an angle would make things hairy.

The offset cutters above are designed from the get-go as pure offsets rather than a "multi-mount" like the one you picture and I like the idea.
