New Titan Grapple

Fianlly got my grapple!! Put it right to work loading piles of old fence posts & wiring off a customer's farm.
It's a Titan 72" Extreme duty.
Likes: Seems really heavy duty. 1/2" + thick tines.
Dislikes: British pipe thread fittings, several lines leaked after hook-up. Required a 1/2 hour with the mini grinder to get the quick-attach bottom pins to fit. :(

I'll be using it to place boulders for a retaining wall I'm building tomorrow.

Looking good builder. I do like mine, finally got to put it to work...

I had the same problems with my Titan grapple. I started a thread name Skidsteer Express won't stand behind their grapple. After about 2 weeks they replaced my grapple. They told me that there was about 10 units that had gone out with the same problem where the grapple gets stuck in the open position & won't close.

Did you figure out why the left arm gets stuck? Resolution?

I think the top connection point for the left hydo cylinder is too far back, which allows the jaw to over extend. It may be made wrong or has been bent. Although I can not detect a bend. The worst is the distributor will not honor warrantee and takes weeks to respond to emails. I live about 35 miles from warehouse or I would have gotten very little use out of it. I have had to pick up several replacement parts, 2 faulty cylinders and replacement jaw. Now they refuse to address the sticking problem. BTW I also had to grind to get the quick attach pins to fit. I think it is made in China, soft metal.

I have a hard time imagining that it would be economical to ship these bulky grapples from China. Americans are also capable of crappy design, manufacture and customer support.

I am surprised that they won't honor a warranty claim on the "stuck open" issue though.

Could be USA made? I bet it is just USA assembled. I have a list of emails and Bill at customer service at skidsteerexpress just ignores the stuck open issue, but addresses the hydro kinking and failure issue. I'm told the hoses are ordered and will be available in 6 weeks. And that after I waited a week for a reply, then re-emailed him about both issues. I made the videos to prove the stuck open issue. That kind of customer service will cost Titan a lot of business in the long run.

Stay after them. Sometimes they are very slow to respond. I think they are a basically good outfit that has had problems with quality on a few of their lines. Remember that they have low prices in part because they have low overhead and as a result may be slow to respond. Gotta take the good with the bad sometimes. Don't give up.

Bill at titan has responded and said he will not cover the defective grapple. At this point I have decided to just try and fix it myself. Titan has the rep they deserve good and bad. If I have been wronged I just give it to the Lord. I forgive Bill and Titan for any wrong and ask God to bless them. If I come up with a good fix I will post a video link here for those suffering with the same problem. Thanks for your help, guys. If you have any fix ideas, I am open to them. Next, I will try welding a stop at the base, again. This time with heaver metal and a rubber bumper.
