I found a 7" KK york rake on CL. It's a bit rusty but seems ok otherwise. Asking price is $400. Is that what they're worth?

What do these sell for new?

Just paid $350 two months ago for a brand new 6' leinbach root rake. I did buy it straight from leinbach in winston salem, not a dealer.

Thanks. Then $400 used isn't much of a deal. Especially since it's 2 hours away and the seller is firm on his price.

Well, I think the jury is still out. York typically commands a higher price - generally fairly high quality. Also, does it have gage wheels - new, these add over $200. Also, York rakes frequently have the scaper blade attachment and some even come with scarifiers. Any of these increase the value signficantly.

Also, I don't think you'll find many, if any 7' rakes for under $500. Add in tax and/or shipping and you getting higher still. Check your local dealers or look on ebay - 7' rakes are up there. The really good ones are up over $1,000.

Gary,
Go to yorkmodern.com and get the price as new. Do you know the model number? If it happens to be the RI, sounds like a very good deal if the teeth are in good shape and I would bet that the framework is not bent. Have you seen photos, if so do post them for use to see as you are asking us for value on something sight unseen. I paid a little less than three times that price for my SLIGHTLY used 8' RI York rake with gauge wheels that still had the rubber injection hairs on the original tire faces and I think new it was around $2400.00 +-. Post photos.

It was a King Kutter with guide wheels. The rake looked ok in the pictures he sent but there was a fair amount of rust.

I'm stunned that I can order a new KK rake for $419. I almost drove 2hours to buy a rusty used one for $400. Amazing information, many thanks everyone.

I wouldn't let a little rust scare you away. First of all, you are not comparing apples to apples.

I'm not sure of the difference as the pics look the same but maybe someone else will know. That website listed above shows 3 different 7' rakes. None of which have the gage wheels by the way.

The model yr-84-y...............$419
Model yr-84...................$469
Professional yr-g-84................$499

An like I said, none of these have wheels. The only one that site listed with the wheels was only a 6 footer (model 4500-lsr-72-gw) and it was $819

Plus you also have to figure in tax????and freight????

So if this guy has one of the heavier ones with the wheels that origionally cost him 800-900, then I'd say he is asking a fair price. And you can usually negotiate a little bit on C-list, unlike ordering online. Is there any chance the guy actually knows the model #????
