I bought a new Bush Hog 6' landscape rake w/ gauge wheels a couple of weeks ago. The body of the rake is a piece of angle iron, with reinforcing pieces welded on, making the top strap of the rake a quasi-U-channel. I have no more than 6 hours on it, raking out freshly delivered loam (which I have to think is about the easiest thing there is to rake). I have a cracked weld on one side and crinkled paint in the same spot on the other close to where the gauge wheel arms mount. Does this sound like an unusual situation, or are these things complete junk?

I would expect more from Bush Hog. I would return it and get a Woods, Frontier, or a York Rake. Heck, the guy across the street from me has a King Kutter, I think, and he uses it all the time behind his 8N on topsoil and gravel. I am sure he has never had a issue with it because I do all his fixing and welding.

Don't know much about BH rakes, besides their MLR series is suppose to be beffier built than their LLR series.
