so 4-5 5 gallon pales of concrete ought to do eh ... will have to see what i can find in the way of bulk slap steel since that seems like it would be huge on top ?

I took a look with some pales and it would seem i can do your method of strapping them on main frame (since the outer frame is floating)

4 should get me 2.7 cu ft ... or about 400lbs added

Sounds right. I used two 60-lb sacks of concrete mix for each bucket. I stuck a piece of galvanized fence pipe down the middle to make it easier to handle the weight.

with smooth disc on it I would assume you would need some weight. or even to break gound with plow or middle buster first. to give it something to sink into. with the soil here in N Fla. and serrated discs if I ran over a plot 5 times I would have the tractor buried to the hubs.

I'm out to pick up a 2 bottom plow this aft, so will plow my fields first and disk afterwards

That sounds good. But if your tractor can handle the weight ontop of the disk you may be able to do it all with a disk when the soil is most but not muddy!

I'm just thinking that itll help get rid of some of the post bushhogging residue (sticks etc) as well that is littering the field
