Box Scraper Box Blade - wow - what a difference

I've been using standard scraper blades for close to 30 years now. Even resorted to putting suitcase weights on them from time to time to assist in "cutting in".

Now - I've known that a BB would be a big difference in usability, but I wouldn't have thought it was this much!

Last week, I picked up a used Woods 48" BB for my little Kubota 1830. With the sacrificers in the 1st of 2 "down" positions - I was very impressed with how well it tore up my very compact stone drive. We move large, 75' mobile homes on the road 2x a year, for the past 75 or so years - and it just "tore it up" like nothing.

It was literally night and day between the scraper blade and the BB. Those sacrificers make all the difference in the world.

Why - oh why did I wait so long to get a BB? :mur:

Same impression I had when first used a box blade with scarifers. My brother has a 10' very heavy duty blade, probably 1200-1300 lbs. Once the easy stuff gets shaved off the top, it just glides over the surface. In comes my much smaller box blade. Rip up the surface and just keep on moving the dirt.

it happens to the best of us. :laughing: My first implement was a King Kutter XB boxblade which i used on my grandpa's JD2210. Loved it from the start and it is still one of my most used implements today. i have had some issues where it wont dig in the ground, even at fill tilt forward and added weights it just bounced across the ground. But on looser driveways, it is far superior and having the rear blade with gauge wheels and a landscape rake, i have most of the implements to get the perfect grade. Congrats on your new toy, err, boxblade, hope you get many many good hours of seat time with it. :thumbsup:

If you want even a better experience, get a hydraulic top link to go with that box blade (if you have a remote). It is really nice to be able to tilt the box on the go from the seat.

I second That. If you would really like to bring your tractor and box blade work to life, make the small investment in a hydraulic top link.

After adding my 3pt forks, I've been wanting to add a hyd top link. Now, I need to add both

I'm thinking that next year will the the added valve and rear remotes. Then, I"ll have to upgrade my front snow blade to power angle also

Still amazed at how well the sacrificers work.
