Here is a used John Deere 9 coil shank Ripper/tiller that can be category 1 or 2. 8 ft wide.It has 9 shanks, however, each are removable and are adjustable. I have owned one just like it for over 30 years and it is one of my "go to" implements when I need soil penetration and don't have time to plow and disc a field. If you cant pull 9 shanks, you can loosen 1 bolt on each shank and remove as many shanks as you need to make it compatible with your HP. The machine has Alfalfa points on it now with good life left in them. Ken Sweet

Wow - that's one elegant looking piece of steel. Looks rock solid and everything on it has a purpose. I don't think you could drill or cut a pound off it without weakeneing it somehow. Very different from the welded angle iron look of today's implements. I want it and I have no real use for it.

Makes a great 3 row laying off plow for a garden and then reposition the shanks for a cultivator :D Ken Sweet

What do you want for it and will 45HP pull all 9 shanks?

Want $695 + modest shipping and 9 shanks can be pulled in garden type soil. If it is a packed sod field of clay, you may need to slide a couple shanks off. Ken Sweet

Actually, it looks like it would make a nice start for building a bullet proof disc hiller - which I do have a use for. What's the toolbar overall width?

The toolbar is 8 ft overall. Ken Sweet

I'd love to find a 5 or 6'er with 5 shanks. Ever run up on anything like that? I hate to turn soil over with a plow.

Sure we do. We just cut the 8 ft toolbars down to size and remove the extra shanks that are not needed. I already have the toolbar, I will see how many shanks that I have? Ken Sweet
