Correct Skidshoe Position

Today I installed the dealer-supplied WOODS skidshoes on my WOODS rearblade. The posts holding the shoes are angled downward toward the center of the blade. Is this the correct position or should I reverse the holders to the opposite ends so that the skidshoes angle outward near the bottom of the blade? The skimpy instruction sheet does not specify. (See photo).

I don't know about the angle, semms like either way would work, but I would like to ask you a question? What size blade is that and what is the part number for the skid shoes? Ok 2 questions.

Solo, I responded but posted wrong. Refer to above correct skidshoe position topic for the part #s for the skidshoes. The skid shoe brackets are listed as a right and left bracket on the packing slip and have different part #'s. Therefore I guess they are specific to each end but I am not sure which belongs where. I don't think the # is marked on the actual parts.

I would want them inward so they don't go past edge of blade.
When u angle blade they should be inside too.

This is a 60 inch rear blade. I will try to locate my receipt. I think I paid about $100. The packing slip with the skidshoe kit refers to the #18300. This slip gives all the part #'s for every piece including the box it was shipped in. They are as follows; skid and shaft assembly - 27586 (2 pieces), Skid shoe bracket assembly, right - 27592 (1 piece), skid shoe bracket assembly, left - 27593 (1 piece), bag of parts - 28597 (1 piece). Now that I reviewed this packing slip, it seems that the shoe brackets are specific to either the right or left end of the blade.

Hard to follow when there's two posts.

I have the same set as you only on the 7 footer. The picture you show should be on the other side so it angles out, not in. The reason is when you are making turns you want the shoe to ride over the surface, not dig in. The way you have it it will still work but will dig down more than if it's angled outwards. You'll also find that you can make a coarse adjustment with the collars, then make really fine incremental adjustments with your top link. As you lengthen the top link it rocks the blade backwards more on to the skid shoes and increases the distance under the cutting edge. Works really well.

I assume you mean when plowing snow on a dirt driveway? If so the answer would be yes, they will work well in that application. Only time you may have a problem is if it's melting snow and the grounds not frozen, then they will tend to sink in a little. In that case I would set the blade high (maybe 1.5 inches) so even if the shoes sink in a little the blade still will be riding above the surface and not actually plowing dirt. I've used them on freash dirt this way when I just want to finish grading but not move a lot of dirt. Works very well. I wouldn't have a blade again without them.
