Hello all just wondering if there is anyone here that has used one of these trimmers
4M INC.
they also make one like the electics that you can hook into the tractor hyralics

I am thinking of this as I am mowing part time (partially disabled) and have problems walking around to trim. I did the easy thing this summer and hired a friends kid to go wiith and trim for me ( I travel a fairly long route mowing for one customer and have picked up some more to fill in the rest of my time)
just wondering as now that school is back on I lost my helper and something like this could make it easier for me to work more hours.
After all it would be a lot easier for me to make a living on this rather than fight and screw around for every dime the workers comp people give out.

If you have any experience please give me a shout I would appreciate it

Hello again I have gotten one of these thanks to the good folks at vocational Rehabilitaion they payed for most of it.

Mounted it yesterday and have limited use as its raining again today
snow saturday a nice monday fair tuesday and rain wednesday whatever!!

anyhow thought I would share a lil bit about it

installation was pretty straight forward, used one mounting hole from factory and drilled another one, put in longer carriage bolts in the deck wheel carriers for height adjustment, ready to put on. It arrived with the foot pedal broken, A poor factory weld no biggy ground out the bad weld rewelded bracket primed it and put it on (no red paint on my yanmar LOL)
built a couple brackets to position return spring and hold hyraulic lines out of the way, changed a couple fittings on the Hydraulic system to make it better fit my application had hoses made the right size ( when ordered they asked the length of hose I said 5 ft. so they made 2 2 1/2 ft hoses to go from motor to the flow control then 2 2 1/2 ft hoses from flow control to go to tractor) so I had 2 5' long hoses made.
here are a few pics. When mounted it sticks out about 7" from left side of deck, something to get used to. In operating position the cutter head is centered about 7 inches outward of deck locked in place by a lock arm on foot pedal. while using you can push footpedal out swinging the cutting head center about 18 inches out from deck. it has an electric locking solonoid to keep it tight to deck, it is hooked up with various springs and the cable from foot control so if you get too close to something it just pushes it back against the deck allowing you to miss judge your distance by a few inches and not hurt anything. (I hope thats enough movement for the learning curve LOL)
seems well built can drive up alonside a house foundation and swing in and trim both sides of window wells along fence posts etc. Am sure once I have a few hours on it I will be able to fly along fairly well with it.
will let you know more next week will have about 25 hrs of mowing to do by the middle of the week.

That looks like it would work well. Give us a first hand review after using it.
