1) do I need to grease the shoot bottom. Is there a stopper or does it rotate 360 degree?
2) what do I connect the top part of the Hooper with?
3) do I need to adjust the Blades or Twig breakers?

This is a new chipper. Out of the crate.I did read the manual and did not see the answer to these ? it gives the measurements to the blade adjustments but does not say specific to check before 1st time operation or where exactly to measure from. Does state that I need a torque wrench. Forgive my ignorance but I am a Musician,Carpenter,Gardner, not a mechanic.

If I am running a mix of more green twigs than limbs, I will lubricate the bottom of the shoot with a spray silicon. Only the top portion of the discharge shoot will rotate 360 degrees not only for discharge but also for storage purposes. There is a spring loaded lever that governs that proceedure.
The top portion of the hopper is built to stow up and inboard when not in use. In that stowed position, there is a swing arm and hitch pin attached to the lifting eye and pinned onto the side of the hopper. Two hex bolts and nuts on the back of the hopper at the adjoining flanges are used to stow/unstow.
The factory has preset the blades so you shouldn't have to do anything there except inspect them before usage and it wouldn't hurt to measure the blade set distance.
DO WEAR GLOVES as this machine is a real wood eating racket blasting herbivore once you start feeding it.
Good luck and enjoy.

Please wear gloves with elastic (snug around the wrist opening). Gaunlet gloves can be snagged by brush or branches being pulled in to the chipper.

I am aware of the spring loaded mechanism but when it is depressed the shoot is not moving freely.

The other ? pertained to the Hopper itself there are two fixed bolts at the bottom but none on the top that faces toward the tractor. There are two obvious places for nut and bolt but appears they where not provided.

WHen you put the Shoot together grease the part that turns (When the spring lever is), that way it will turn easily (Mine is easy to do with one hand.
The hooper bolts down tight and does not move.
I would also wear a face shield (I use the logging style with the hard hat, screen face shield and ear muff.) to be safe. You are going to get clubbed from time to time and once you get snapped by a branch across the face or ear you will think, man I need some more protection.
Love the machine and it works great, but it is a mean beast from time to time
HAVE FUN and be SAFE

when I was a young teen I had a job with a Tree Company who had a contract with Florida Power & Light the chipper we used was a 4 or six cylinder gas motor God knows how many RPM it produced it would gobble up a 20, 30' pine 6 to 7" in a matter of seconds. This was long before they had hydro feeders and reversible safety bars. One day a backward branch caught my shirt and pulled me toward the Hopper , I threw my arms up and spread my legs, slammed me into and off the edge . Luck was with me that day as my quick reaction kept me from going into the blades. It bruised me bad. On a clear calm day you could hear this thing running from a mile or so away.

You pull up on the spring loaded mechanism, not down.
Yes, you need two bolts and nuts in the upper holes as the act as the pivot point for storage and securing points when down and ready to operate. Sounds like a trip to the hardware store for a dollar's worth of nuts and bolts. Be sure to buy nylon stop nuts (that is what the factory should have provided) because they do not need to be removed during normal operation.

The main safety concern in my opinion is being hit with a limb after the chipper has grabbed it. Make sure to stand off to the side because the limbs can snap quickly towards you.

Maybe post a pic of the missing bolts? If the chipper housing is connected you might not be missing any.

It was shipped so the hopper and shoot were not assembled.

talked to a Wallenstein rep this morning. Evidently the nut and bolt where not included he apologized. I will acquire some at local bldg supply today.

Shoot recommendation: disassemble sand bottom of top and top of bottom to remove any paint or welding balls. Rub a wax candle on the sanded pieces, He called this dry lubrication.

The blades have one adjusting bar bottom left of the hopper. He refered me to their web site for the updated owners manual.

I do have a helmet with ear muffs and face shield. And thank you for the other saftey recommendations.
