Deere's site says the current MX-8 has stump jumper pans. I just bought a very clean, used MX-8 to replace my old beat up landpride 6' bush hog. It's being delivered to me to cut 23 acres on Friday. It has only been used 3 times, then stored for 3 years. I forgot to ask the seller if it had jumper pans. Seller is elderly man & woman incapable of looking under mower (it's laying flat on garage floor)and I wasn't able to look underneath when I went up to look at it. I already committed to buying and left a deposit.

Anyone know if a 3-4 yr old MX-8 also came standard with stump jumper pans? Or were they an option?

If it has been sitting for 3 years, but otherwise like new, I was just going to grease it. Anyone think gearbox oils need to be changed?

Yes it will have stump jumper pans. The blades are mounted on large steel pans/dishes that spin. Those are the "stump jumpers". The local municipality here uses MX 8 to mow the right of ways. They look beat up but work great after years of use.
