I also just noticed that according to section 16 and 17 (the hydraulic section
in the manual) in the lift arms lowered position,I may not have hydraulic pressure in the auxillary quick connect. So I may need to install a seperate line (power beyond) to feed the high pressure in on the backoe.

Boy I would love to be able to find a used JD backhoe. They are scare as hens teeth up here. Congrats on the find

Hi Mike,

You need two hoses from the BH. The input/pressure for the BH is from the mounted QD, and that gets it's pressure from the 3ph lever when in the top 15%, and that is where you have constant fluid flow . The return hose from the BH has to go to tank/reservoir, and there should be a fitting on the tractor for that. When using the BH, the lift arms should be locked in the position you want.

I never did see the hyd pump GPM rating. Small BH's, do not need a lot of hyd flow.

The Control Knob will lock the 3ph arms wherever you want. Then use the top 15 % of the Control lever for constant hyd flow..

You should brace the BH somehow. Did you say the stabilizer legs are on the machine?

Yes,J-J,the legs are still on it but I only have the small mounts for the front of them, and to utilize those,it would be a MAJOR subframe build as there is nothing even close to them under the the tractor where the end mounting points of those legs are.I was going to cut off those long legs and just use the lifting bars and top link-just like any other 3-point attachment. Now I am thinking like you-I probably should put some of the weight on the drawbar mount or rear axles or something?? I have a tiller that weighs around 400-500 pounds I would guess, but this think is maybe 800,and like Kennyd said earlier in this post,it will produce allot more force on the tractor. If I break out the rear case by the top link or even break the tractor in half, the whole rig is pretty much scrap metal.

I just read it...it seems that QD at the rear can only be used with a SA (single acting) cylinder, like on a dump trailer that's powered UP but gravity DOWN. You will need to plumb in a PB circuit IMHO.

DANG! So I am back to square one.Any suggestions on doing the plumbing?

The manual says constant pumping, then that is a constant flow, and there is no reason that it would not power the BH, if you have a place to return the flow, if the GPM's and pressure are available. Sure it could be used for dump, and if you held it there, it would relieve. Why would it say constant pumping. If someone put a flow meter and gage on it they would probably have flow and pressure if a load is in place.

The manual says it can be used for implements that require hydraulics, including dump cyl.

Could I damage anything if I just hook it up and try it?I was going to just stick the return line in a 5 gallon bucket to flush the backhoe system since it has sat for awhile with some of the lines disconnected.I will of course replentish the oil as needed in the tractors system.

Yes, you can try it with no ill-effects. Still need answers to above questions?
