Just Launched new website. Any Feedback Appreciated
Sweet Farm Equipment LLC just launched its second website today 10-12-10. This site is for specific inventory at the Munfordville, Ky location on Interstate 65 about 1 Hr south of Louisville, Ky at Exit 65. My Son, Greg runs this store and his inventory of larger machines generally does not ship as well as the inventory at my location in Canmer, Ky. He does have a excellent location for customer pickup. Please feel free to give us feedback on what you think about this website. We will take all suggestions into serious consideration in the next few weeks as we tweak the site. Here is the link Sweet Farm Equipment Ken Sweet

Big improvement graphically over your main website. Especially the homepage which is far cleaner and less cluttered. The search function works well too. It still has a bit of an amateurish feel to it but that is not necessarily a bad thing as a tractor site shouldn't look like Apple or Microsoft.

Header section: Conveniently is misspelled (in "Conveniently located at the I-65 interchange in Munfordville, KY")
Options section: Where you have "HOME INVENTORY CONTACT" I might add "Brands" link that goes to a page of the brands you carry.
I might also add a subpage with some of the more popular implements for that brand and their specs.

Please take all comments as constructive criticism. I prefer a less busy home page with a briefer synopsis of the business with as little scrolling down as possible. I think your experience would be better suited on an "About Us" page and move the product lines up on the home page so one doesn't need to scroll down to see them. I like the scrolling slide show, and was surprised that when I clicked on one of the products it actually linked to a picture of that product. It might be worth noting on the screen to click on the slides for more info and pricing. The "View Our Equipment" button is more intuitive and really doesn't need to be called out. You could get rid of the "Click Below To View Our Current Inventory" and move the text above it down so it is more congruent with the text beside it.
That is my only criticism, other than that it looks great and is very functional.
Then, I had my web designer wife look at it and her suggestions were to slow down the scrolling slide show and mute the grass background both by about 50%. She also thought the picture at the bottom of the home page was a little much and agreed with my thoughts of limiting the text.

Very nice, easy to navigate and I really liked the scrolling inventory being "live." I may be up your way the first week of November, if so I'm going to stop by and introduce myself.

Ken,
I use the NoScript add-in for Firefox that blocks Java Script from a site without my permission (temporary or permanent).
I'm guessing that most NoScript visitors will realize that they need to allow Java Script to take full advantage of the site, but it might be worthwhile adding a note to that effect. In my experience, most sites don't include the note, but some do.
Just my 2 cents worth.

IMO, if you really want to go big time, get yourself a shipper who will give quotes and ship to any long distance customers. I buy equipment from all around the country and what really "seals the deal" for me is when the seller can quickly and reasonably ship the equipment via a qualified shipper.
For the buyer to have to hire a shipper whom he probably doesn't know makes the outcome of the transaction too unpredictable.

I like the clean look of the home page. I also like the inventory rolling by in front that allows you to click to see more. (but it might say: "click to see")
I dont like having to do a lot of typing to get to what I want (and sometimes I dont know what I want) as found on the second page.
Good luck with the new site!!3320 eHydro, 300CX Loader & 15 + great attachments

Nice, clean and quick to load, was my experience, nice job. Do you only sell used equipment though? It seemed that way to me. If you do sell new stuff too, then perhaps add the word "used" (pre-owned???) in front of your "Inventory" headings etc. or some other split to indicate what you have that is used, and what you have or can sell that is new.
