I'd like to buy a 3 point hitch core aerator (as opposed to a tow behind model). Does anyone know where I can get one at a reasonable price? I'd only use it a few times a year so I don't need the 96" bomb proof model that can only be pulled by a tank.

Will, core aerators that work off of a 3 pt hitch aren't cheap. Most of the ones I've seen sell for better than $1000. You may want to go with the ones you toe behind and are water filled.

My last place was a little over 5 acres. I'd go to the rent store 2 or 3 times a year and do a half day rental. I'd connect it to the the back of my truck and go over the property...VERY SLOWLY! I say this 'cause one day I let my brother plug my pasture while I was doing errands. Returned home to see him making 15 mph across the pasture. The plugger was bouncing all over the place! Broke off 12 tines and all the water leaked out. The plugger was a mess.

Anyway, I bought a plugger for the new place. It works off of the 3 pt hitch, is 6ft, is made by Bush Hog, and was $1400. I also do tractor work for hire around my area, that's how I justified the price.

Again, your best bet my be renting one.

Johnny - thanks for the info, I didn't know about them.

Billc - Good description, that would have been something to see.
