I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place. I have 2, 5 acre pastures with hay growing in them. They are completely open but somewhat bumpy. I'm in central Florida so my soil is very sandy. Could someone point me in the right direction with how I can smooth these pastures out? I just cut them back for the winter and I really need to try to get them a little smoother. All advice is appreciated.

Here is Georgia we use sand which you should have plenty of...Just spread sand over your low spots. Since you have just cut the pastures back for the winter, now would be a perfect time...I don't know what equipment you could use to distribute the sand on the proper low spots...You could dump sand here and there near the spots you want to even up and then smooth it our with a back blade. Maybe someone else has a better way.

Thanks for the quick reply brin. I have a box blade that I've been trying to use but I think that I'm not using it properly. I get more dips and hills then I started out with. Can someone please explain how I use the box blade?

I have a Kubota M4900 with frt loader and lots of attachments, bush hog, box blade, 2 bottom plow, rake, blade, sub soiler. Not sure how to use most of it.

Since you have an FEL and small area to deal with ..it seems to me you could have a pile of sand delivered and then use your FEL to take sand to your low spots, dump it and then back drag it and then go to the next low spot and do the same...

Do you know what I mean when I say..." Back Drag it " ? :)

Everything Attachments has some videos on how to use various implements.

If it's really bad maybe hire someone with a laser guided motor grader to level it out.
For small areas I use a chain harrow on my FEL My chain harrow almost makes me look like a professional!

In this part of the country I Disk them length wise then crossways and seed them with a winter grass ... it works well. In the spring the bahia and bermuda come back.

No--not really. Could you explain. Also, I was thinking that using a HEAVY chain harrow might just do the trick. Any thoughts?

If you do go with a chain harrow, attach a heavy pipe to the tail end. Let the chain cut, and the heavy pipe level / smooth.

Dragging the chain works nicely.

My Father-in-law has land near Williston. If yours is anything like his, the chain will work.
