better off using the blower on the rear along with using a suicide knob and or a back up camera as you will spend much less money.

Thanks leonz

Now I do know what a back-up camera is and I am intrigued by the possibility but what is a "suicide knob"?

It doesn't sound good but you never know

back up camera for a vehicle, its a little screen and camera u put on the back of something. A suicide knob bolts onto ur steering wheel and it allows you to spin the steering wheel with one hand very quick.

i also have been looking into this same idea but i was gonna build a pto pump unit with a tank. i found a 7' blower for my montana and i was thinking about a hydro motor to turn it. the motor i was looking at was the bigger one that spun at 600 rpm. but i might just wait and buy a 6' and make a pto drive underneith the tractor from front to back and hydralic lift.

Save your self a lot of grief and aggravation and stick with a rear PTO snow
blower.

several things for you:

A pump/tank/motor system will require the following:

A very large reservoir fully half again as much as the rated pump volume per minute

A gear or vane motor rated for the 540 RPM speed to deliver the volume to operate the blower.

A hydraulic motor capable of operating at 540 rpm with very high torque which would require either a "radial piston motor" or a "vane motor" delivering the torque required to rotate a reduction gearbox to rotate the impeller.

a rear blower with both large mirrors in the cab and out side the cab as well as extra lighting and a cab camera, pictures of which I uploaded earlier.

You have remember that at 1 MPH you are traveling at 88 feet per minute
at 2 MPH 176 feet per minute, at 3 MPH 266 feet per minute in reverse
so its not that bad in working speed anyway.

Thanks again leonz

Very well presented and I think the way I will go for this year at least to see how it works.

I have mirrors on the cab and in the cab so I may not even need the back up camera - but it is an interesting option for the future if it would make it easier.

It will make it easier Bob, The thing folks dont like is the low speed and the fact that they do not or can not properly position themselves to do it by twisting in the seat slightly with a gear or hydro power unit.

The slow speed and the wheel spinner knob (suicide knob) allow tremendous ability to increase steering motion with which you can run at a slow speed and make easy corrections which are needed some times.

You have to remember the tractor will steer in the opposite direction DUE TO THE REVERSE TRAVEL DIRECTION used for the rear mounted snow blower to work.

Bob,I agree with leonz buy a spinner for the steering wheel and mount it on the rear unless you plan to spend a lot of time ,which it doesn't sound like , backing up isn't the end of the world .At half speed you would be lucky to even move the snow to the end of the plow.I've run a 84" with 35hp for 20 years it is underpowered but works decent if snow is not 3 feet deep.Seems you will have lots of power so the job won't be labourous.

I think you folks (not to mention my shrinking budget) have convinced me the rear mount blower, good mirrors - and probably a back up camera - are the more economical and mechanical way to go.

Thanks
Bob

Now to find a back up camera sale!!

Bob here is a link to ag supply and a picture of a Cab Cam system

www. agsupplyonline.com

The last photo is my snow blower someday

I thought fluffys predicament was appropriate for today especially.

The camera system in the jpeg. is $275.99 U.S.D. + tax and shipping today at www.agsupply.com

The Cab Cam is more costly BUT it is a much more rugged system and designed to work at night as well as in difficult line of sight situations. It will be usefull the year round especially when attempting to line up towed and ground engaging implements the year round.

Not trying to reach into your wallet, I just want you to have zero problems and "you only buy good tool once".

Bob, a farmer that was in our area, ran a shaft set up from pto, to a chain drive, to a shaft with hanger bearings, and on up to another pto shaft to run blower.
I wish the guy was still with us, I would get pictures how he done that. Just thought another option for you. By the way it ran awesome. He used it to fill dump trucks at a local town when snow was winrowed to be hauled off of main areas.
I wonder if you do some searches on this if you could get any ideas.
