i think its a IH or a McCormick. if any one has a clue model # or any other info i would love to hear. i just planted @ 2 acres with it and i think its the coolest attachment iv ever used.pull a handle BOOM the disc's drop pull it again BANG it goes back up. its 12 feet wide and i need to replace the back board, not for me I'm 6'5" but the kids need a place to stand while they are helping with the oats... also the hubs need some repair.all the bearings are good but the hub bore seem to be worn.On the list is opener discs all are worn and 1 of the parts that the drop tubes hook on to is cracked luckily the seeds still drop to the ground....... next stop hay rake mower and baler got a line on all but the mower. more on those after i get all the planting done @ 6 acres left. how many 2 wire bales might i get of oat hay on 6 acres? oh and the mouse that was living in the tube scared the crap outta me when he jumped out over my head...

Nice old drill.
I restored a 10-ft wide Minneapolis Moline P3-6 drill two years ago and planted 6 acres of Kanota oats last season--non-irrigated. We had above average rainfall last season (24 inches, normal is about 18 inches). Yield was about 1/2 ton per acre--about 20 two-twine bales per acre.

I disced the field two weeks ago using my old 6.5 ft wide Towner offset disc.
I need to do some serious weed control this season (fiddleneck, star thistle) so I use a combination of cultivation and herbicides this season. I'll plant Kanota oats next season.

Grain must take less water than i am thinking to grow. We get 50+ inches in a normal year around here and stuff still burns up around here. Millet will burn up around here in the summer with lack of rain i dont see how oats can make it on that little rain. Y'all must not have any grass in your yards, the years we lack rain, where we will only get from the mid 30's to 40"s a year i have a burnt up brown lawn with green weeds that will turn green for 3 days after a rain, if its really hot and dry maybe 1 day after.

Here's what my Kanota oats looked like last April just before mowing

Yep, during the hot months (June-Sep) the non-irrigated lawns and fields are browned over and grass fires are a real hazard.
