:thumbsup:Jake, initially wasn't sure how you wanted to do it but as they say 1 pict=1000 words. Have you thought about putting hooks on the shakles to make tightening up the chains easier/quicker?

Good Job!!

Can you use 1/2" Grade 70 Clevis Grab Hooks instead, like these? (9,000 lb WLL)

Edit: Went back & re-read that you have hooks on order.

I was definately missing the hooks. Need a temporary chain too, to hold it when I'm readjusting. Seems like the double chain might be overkill for that size stump. I have a pressure gauge, I guess I should hook it up. Have to go ask the hydraulics experts if it matters where (like is it ok to have it by the tractor end of the hose), I think it all evens out somewhat.
With this wet clay ground getting them loose is only the beginning, I have to come up with a way to get some of the dirt off. I was picking at it with the little BX back-hoe. Maybe forget about that and just drag them to the low side and push them off. Anyway, I didn't get to try a big stump, tomorrow I'll see how that goes.

I found out the other day how to get some of the dirt off. But not sure it's what you would want to do. Had someone remove a 24" stump. The root ball and stump were too much for my tractor and grapple to lift, so I started to roll the stump across the yard. Well with each roll more and more dirt fell off and at about the half way point I could pick up the root ball and stump with the tractor and haul it to the stump pile/area.
I also had a few stumps that I left out in the open with the root up, hoping the winter or spring rain would take most of the dirt off. Didn't see much difference after a year.

Like someone else said.. Picture is worth a 1000 words. I like the setup. Keep posting phone of your successes.

Very interesting, thanks for the link to Bailey. I spent about 15 minutes trying to find it on Bailey's - a forestry supply company I frequent :)

So did you just get the hoses and fill them, purge them and then hook them into your rear hydro?

I've got a B7610 and it looks like you hooked them in about the same place I hook my backhoe. I'm a total noob with tractor hydraulics, any suggestions for what else I'll need?
thanks

Just hook them up, they fill/purge themselves. I don't know much about hydraulics either, just the principle. You hear some say to use teflon tape on the fittings, I've heard not to and I don't. No leaks.
So you're going to pull some stumps? It's one of the cheapest attachments I've used, and who doesn't want an excuse to buy some heavy chain?
You need to talk to the Kubota guys, I think their system is different, open vs. closed, or something like that, pressure on all the time..
