RE: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/185530-added-ripper-my-woods-bh90x.html

That thread made me want one for my Woods BH70X.

Michigan Iron and Equipment contacted me and said they could build one.

I contacted Woods and got:
Unfortunately we do not make a ripper attachment for this unit.

So a factory part is not a choice.

Questions:
Does anyone with a Woods BH70X have a ripper tooth?
If so could you provide more details on design etc. ?

Does any one else want one for their BH70X?
If so - any special features?

thanks in advance.

You could get MIE to build one and it would do pretty well, but remember that there difference in prying power between a BH70x and BH90x.
With the right technique you could do the same, but it will talke longer and you may have to be farther from the tree stump.
If get one made let us know how it works.

I know, that's why I'm posting. I figure there are a fair number of BH70X users here and if anything special had to be done to hook up to the BH70X versus some other BH they might be interested.

There are also several different designs for rippers so I was looking for suggestions on design.

Good link, for
ready to weld
, which unfortunately I'm not.

Thanks

Apparently not much interest, BUT -

Has anyone tried to fashion a plate that could be bolted to the holes where the teeth are bolted?

I don't know the digging and bucket forces your BH70X can bring but I have an MIE root ripper design just like IT's from his post. My Ford 758b is less powerful by about 25% than IT's BH90X so I'm not as successful as he is ripping roots. An improvement I have been contemplating for my situation is similar to adding a hydraulic thumb that would come together with the ripper tooth face like a hand pruner tool does. I haven't priced anything out, just dreaming at this point, but you asked for ideas.

That's a great idea. If the tooth could be mounted like the bucket is, so it could fold in, even with a non-hydraulic thumb, as I have, one could get a pincer or scissor action.

I thought even if it wouldn't cut all the way thru it would weaken the larger root enough to rip it with the tooth.

Nickel, I will check out the ad site thanks.
