Removal of King Kutter stump jumper
How do I remove the stump jumper from a King Kutter 60" rotary cutter? The blades are attached to the stump jumper on this model. I have limited tool availability. I have removed the center nut and can not get the stump jumper off...Please help!

Re: Removal of King Kutter stump jumper
Most stump jumpers are seated on a tapered and splined shaft. By the shaft being tapered and seated the stump jumper is usually not going to just drop off after the bolt is removed. It always takes some hammering (big hammer) and some heat from a propane torch for me to remove them. Quick heat around the shaft. Don't get it so hot that it melts your seal.

Here is the way we get them off. Get a pry from each side under the blade carrier. Screw your nut back on the threads leaving about 1/4 inch of the nut above the threads. While 2 guys are putting down pressure with the pry bars, hit the nut sharpley on the shaft with a 3-4 lb shop hammer. The blade carrier should pop right off the tapered spline. If not, WD 40, heat and repeat same procedure. Always wear safety glasses. Ken Sweet

It's a lot easier to do if you stand the brush cutter up with the FEL. Just be careful to secure the brush cutter so it doesn't fall. Chain it to something. I won't work under something that can fall on me. This includes the brush cutter and the FEL on tractor.

I use a thick wall pipe with a cap welded on top. after center nut is removed. rotate dish pan so the blade bolt (nut) lines up with the access hole, put open end of pipe over nut and pop with slege hammer a few good times, rotated to the other blade bolt. and do it again.

Re: Removal of King Kutter stump jumper
This Worked best for me. Thanks Guys! King Kutter 72" 60hp Bought used cheep. Someone put hardened bolt in for sheer pin ripped the gear head from deck twisted PTO shaft. Gear head was fine. Stood it up on 3pt Bracket chained to loader. Took 2 steel wedges for splitting logs. Drove one between stumpjumper and deck the other 180 deg other side. Flipped nut over and hit it with 20lb dead blow hammer and pop it came right off. Welded in 12x12x1 Plate steel, blew some holes in, bolted gear head back on and vundabar have mower better than new. Added a swivel for top link and New gear lube, "no shavings or bits in the old". It even came with new slip clutch PTO shaft. Great mower for $100 plus some time.
