Anybody Have or Used One of These?

The best thing about vertical splitters is the easier handling of the bigger pieces into the splitting position. There's no lifting and the big half can stay close while breaking up the rest.
But overall I think horizontal splitters that are up at table height are easiest on your back. With side wings the big leftovers can be kept near the splitting position. The pieces do need to be lifted once but if the splitter is independent of the tractor the rounds can be brought to the splitter in the FEL at table height. My 2 cents. (There's $10 worth of 2-cent posts on TBN about this)

i also don't think a vertical only splitter would be much fun on the back after a cord or so. for a stand alone splitter, one that goes horizontal as well as vertical is good, because you can flip it up to cut those heavy sections down to size and then flip it back to horizontal for everything else.

for a 3ph splitter, my personal opinion is that there is no need of a vertical option. you just lower the 3ph arms so that the splitter is on the ground and roll the few oversize pieces on to cut them down to size, then pick the arms back up to operating height.

...........Disclaimer: I'm a tractor newbie. Anything I post either just makes sense to me or I read it here someplace. Confirm with experienced folk before taking my advice or trying my idea........

What a great disclaimer ! Pretty much applies to all of us !

I thought about getting a 3 pt log splitter but ended up getting a 27 ton Troy-Bilt stand alone splitter a few weeks ago. Price was $1299 + my 10% military veteran discount.

This is the log splitter that I purchased off of craigslist (locally) a couple months ago...

**NOTE: I do NOT know who these people are in the following video. I am only showing you that the BARK BUSTER pto log splitter is what I have and letting you watch how it works.**
