I have a 10 gauge line to the outbuildings for 220 volt, 30 amp service. With care that should run the woodworking tools and my son's car hoist.
Running a bigger line out there may be worth it. One time expense for wire and a trencher and you are good for a lifetime. 100A subpanel is not a bad idea to give you a lot of flexibility. 30A is pretty basic and will cover the stuff you mentioned, but not much of a welder. But I could see the portability of a gen set being useful too. Food for thought.
